be installed.
No. FaxTalk does not send faxes via internet, faxes are transmitted by a fax
modem connected via telephone. However, FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro and
FaxTalk Messenger Pro include email support for sending an attachment of
your fax to email addresses. You can specify an email address field instead
of a fax number field if you have enabled the email sending option in
FaxTalk. When sending fax documents to email addresses you can choose
to have FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro convert the fax documents into Adobe
Acrobat PDF or TIFF formatted image file. For more details, see the FaxTalk
FaxCenter Pro or FaxTalk Messenger Pro documentation. If you are sending
a large amount of e-mails, please consult with your Internet Service Provider
regarding mass e-mailing policies.
· If I send a fax via email, does the recipient receive it from their fax machine?
No. FaxTalk can send your fax as an email, the recipient will receive the fax
as an attachment (in PDF or TIFF format) in their email. If you are sending a
large amount of e-mails, please consult with your Internet Service Provider
regarding mass e-mailing policies.
· Can I use my multi-function (all in one) printer to send faxes with FaxTalk?
No. FaxTalk does not support multi-function printers with built in fax devices.
A fax modem is required to send faxes.
· Can I use my DSL or Cable modem to send faxes using FaxTalk and
FaxTalk Merge Macro?
No. Cable or DSL modems do not support fax.
·What kind of fax modem do I need?
You will require a Class 1 or Class 2 type fax modem. These types of fax
modems are available in internal (PCI, PCIe) and external (serial, USB)
models available from various manufacturers such as Multitech, U.S.
Robotics, Trendnet, Zyxel and Zoom. Most low cost modems with 56 Kbps
data capability have 14.4 Kbps fax support included.
·How do I send a fax and have the fax number or email address automatically
detected from the document?
Yes. You can scan your document directly from FaxTalk and save the
document as a fax attachment (.FAX file). You can then add this .FAX as an
attachment in the FaxTalk Merge Macro. Select the option to enable
scanning in FaxTalk under Options, General.
· I want to use a FaxTalk phone book as my merge data source, how can I do
this?
While you cannot directly select a FaxTalk phone book as a merge data
source, you can export any existing FaxTalk phone book to Comma
Separated Values (CSV) format. You can then select the exported CSV file
as your merge data source. Select the option to include field names when
exporting.
· Not all my customers have a fax number, or I may be missing the fax
number. What happens if a fax number does not exist in the database?
The Fax Merge macro will skip any recipients that do not have a fax number
or e-mail address.
· Can I add any type of attachment to the merge?
No. Only documents that can automatically be converted by FaxTalk can be
added. Most popular formats can be automatically converted provided you
have the appropriate software installed, such as Adobe PDF Reader. For
optimum results, we recommend saving your attachment as .FAX format and
attach .FAX files to the merge when required.
· When I send a fax merge, the faxes are merged but the processing is very
slow and Microsoft Word appears as not responding.
We have determined that some Anti-Virus software that interacts with
Microsoft Outlook may cause this behavior. This has been confirmed with
AVG 9 when merging from Outlook based contacts. To correct this problem,
temporarily disable AVG Resident Shield while performing the merge. If you
are using another anti-virus software, try temporarily disabling it while
performing a merge.
· Is there a limit to how many faxes I can send using FaxTalk Merge Macro?
No. If you are using a multi-line server version of FaxTalk with multiple fax
modems, you can send more than one fax at the same time.
· I sent a fax merge and all the merged faxes are listed in the outbox, but they
do not send.
This can happen if you have set FaxTalk to Work Offline. When enabled the
Work Offline option will cause all faxes submitted to the Outbox to be held
until the Work Offline option is disabled. Please check and see if the Work
Offline feature is enabled in the FaxTalk software. This can also occur if you
have set the scheduling options in the FaxTalk Merge Macro to hold all faxes
in the outbox.
· I sent a fax as an email, but I don't see it in the FaxTalk outbox.
All email is transmitted by the email client that is configured in the FaxTalk
FaxCenter Pro or FaxTalk Messenger Pro options.
·I sent a fax merge and selected email addresses instead of fax numbers, not
all of the emails were sent.
Faxes sent by e-mail are handled by the e-mail client you have configured in
FaxTalk and Windows. Some ISPs may block the sending of mass e-mails,
such as too many e-mails in a specified timeframe.(For example, maximum
50 e-mails per hour) Contact your ISP to determine if you have any
limitations when sending mass e-mails.
