Situation: You have recently installed one of the following products:
  •  Norton SystemWorks 2002 (with WinFax Basic Edition 10.02)
  • WinFax PRO 10.02
  • WinFax Basic Edition 10.02
When you start Word 2000, Word XP/2002 or Word 2003 one the following error message appears:
  • "Winword has caused an error in VBE6.DLL"
  • "Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close."
  • "The instruction at "0x650D6D0B" referenced memory at 0x00000000". The memory could not be written. "
  • "The macros in this project are disabled."
This error can be caused by Word macro for WinFax installed with one of the Symantec products listed above

Solutions:

Included here are two solutions to this error message. Review each solution and determine which action you wish to take.

Solution 1: If you want to have a working WinFax macro active in Microsoft Word.

GetFaxing.com has released a working macro for Microsoft Word 2000/XP/2003. You can download a FREE trial of the macro  This macro will automatically replace the existing macro, and you will not need to follow any of the steps described in this document, or Symantec's document to resolve this problem.

Solution 2: I don't want a macro for WinFax and Word: Follow the steps as described in Symantec's technical support document to correct this error:
