I’m using WinFax Pro v10.02 and MS Server 2003. When I attempt to insert a file to a fax there is no response from WF Pro and no error message either. I’ve tried with and without a cover and tried attaching .doc, .rtf, and .txt files. Also, when I try to drag and drop, the icon changes like it will allow the action but the file is never attached. I am able to successfully fax without inserting a file. Thanks for your assistance!

Hi, I am new and have the same problem. I ran the patch but still won’t work. I have winfax 10.2 running server 2003. Any ideas?

do you have the WinFax PRO printer drivers installed?
Check the Control Panel, Printers & Faxes
Select the WinFax PRO printer driver, right-click, properties. and print a test page. Do you see the Windows Test page appear in the WinFax send dialog?

Yup, I tried that but nothing happens. Should I reinstall winfax from scratch again? I already have done that but never clear the registry or anything of that sort, maybe that needs to be done?

    Thanks John,
I just finished doing what you suggested and the problem is identical. I’m thinking that maybe winfax won’t work with server 2003. I will try to get Outlook and windows fax working as an alternative thanks.I’ll let you guys know how that goes.

if that still didn’t work, then there is a problem with the WinFax installed printer drivers.

when you uninstalled, did it properly report a complete uninstall?

Does the event viewer show any errors when you print to the WinFax PRO Printer driver? (Start, Run, type “eventvwr.msc”) and click on the System folder.

also check WFXINST.LOG in the Windows or WINNT directory to see if there are any reported errors related to the printer driver.

You can also try to delete the WinFax printers from the control panel, and reinstall them by double-clicking the INSTPRN.EXE file in the WinFax directory.

not sure if your post was cut off or not, if not, you may have to cut the document in two and make two or more seperate posts.

as for the first DCOM error, it has nothing to do with WinFax. This error appears because the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service (StiSrv) in Windows cannot be started (you probably have it disabled )

you may also want to ensure that the “Print Spooler” service is enabled and also “Fax” service is disabled (this will disable MS Fax services)

Ok so it works now, but only if I log in the computer physically. I can’t get it to work with terminal services?

Is there a way to make it work?

no, WinFax doesn’t work with Terminal Services. I believe when you connect using terminal services, the send dialog appears on the client computer where WinFax is actually installed (when you print to WinFax), not on your remote computer using terminal services.
This is the same problem with Citrix

Why don’t you use Fax Sharing? Setup one computer as the HOST to send the faxes, and client PCs to generate the faxes. WinFax will have to be installed on each client PC
