Is it possible, to connect an analogue fax Machine directly to an analogue PCI-Modem-Card without a telephone system inbetween?

I heard this is possible with winfax. Id like to test fax machines, and send an receive faxes from my PC to the Fax Machine, and vice versa.

I believe this is possible. You would need to disable detect dial tone on the modem settings in WinFax or the software you are using on the PC, and then also do the same in the fax machine setup. Some fax machines will automatically start receiving faxes once they hear a fax CNG tone, so really all is required is for the Fax software to start sending the fax and the modem will generate the proper fax tones, the fax machine should start receiving the pages once it hears the fax CNG tones.
