this is the result of a bad line (excessive line noise) or use of a non-supported VoIP line.

you can try these suggestions until the problem is resolved.

a. connect fax machine to a different phone line if possible.
b. if internet DSL service is installed on the phone line you are using for fax, you may require a DSL filter in between the fax machine and phone line connection.
c. send faxes in lower resolution – standard (200×100 resolution) instead of fine (see manual of fax machine)
d. limit/reduce sending speed of your fax machine to 9600, 7200 or 4800 bps. (see manual of fax machine)
