When I choose to fax a PDF (Acrobat) document the controller tells me that this file type has no association and does not fax. I know the pdf files are associated because I can double-click on one from Windows Explorer and it will automatically launch Acrobat Reader. What is the problem?

Try right clicking the PDF file and selecting Print. If you don’t have a print association, then WinFax can’t automatically attach PDF’s files.
