I am new to this program. I installed it and have a WinFax folder but no desktop icon in spite of the fact I said “yes” during the installation. I can locate the program in Windows Explorer but cannot figure out how to get a shortcut so I can start using the program. I have XP and WinFax Pro Version 10. Thanks

Go to the WinFax folder that was installed on the hard drive and then find WTNSETUP.EXE and double-click it .
This will start the process of setting up your fax modem and will configure all the other WinFax settings, including adding a shortcut on your desktop.

OK. I got that. I have a standard modem but it does not seem to work. Which modem do i choose to use with this program? How do i configure the modem for this? Sorry to be such a pain.

The fax modem should automatically be detected during the setup, if its listed as “Standard Modem” then its possible that you don’t have a fax modem setup in Windows and WinFax is asking you to select one.

A fax modem isn’t the same as a “DSL” modem, so if your attempting to select your DSL modem in WinFax, it will not work.
