I’ve been working on this project since Aug-2001 and finally got a workable solution for my customer. The project was to fax reports from Access 2k – my test system was Windows 95 and Winfax 10.00. Never could get it to work without crashing. Usually created two instances of the controller – 1 when I did the MakeAttachment and one when I created the actual send object – see [url=http://www.getfaxing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=3&topic=29
Built]http://www.getfaxing.com/cgi-bin….p>Built[/url] new system in December with Windows 2k Pro and did a client (on the W2k) and host (on the original Win95) set-up (still using WinFax 10.00). Everything suddenly worked! Finished app up, sent to customer, he could not get it to work – Winfax would crash. Went to customer site and he’s got Windows ME and Windows XP clients with a Win NT 4 server as WinFax Host. The ME systems crashed – the XP would never make the attachment files. Turns out he’s using WinFax 10.02. Installed my version 10.00, ME still would not work, but got the XP systems to work great.
Anyway, this is very frustrating experience and I see lots of others w/similar problems. My customer is not interested in receiving faxes, so don’t know about v10.00 and XP compatibility problems there, but as far as SDK and sending on XP, v10.00 seems to be working.
Also, had no problem faxing from the WinNT 4 Server station, even tho Symantec says WinFax is not for servers.
