To overcome earlier problems my son has proposed using an older Notebook in an off-line situation, but with telephone line connection only.
We propose to install Windows 98SE + WinFax + M/S Access (Contains the Database/addresses).
Is there any requirement to have Outlook also installed (but not used) to enable WinFax 10.02 to operate? We are concerned that WinFax may use some files in Outlook.

No, outlook (any version) doesn’t have to be installed at all for WinFax to function. During installation, WinFax will check for the presence of Outlook and then allow for the integration of the Outlook phonebooks, if it is not installed, it simply bypasses this.
