ParticipantWe are trying to send a fax to a business that has its fax machine setup to answer after 8 rings(!!). This was discovered when we manually dailed and counted the number of rings prior to the C&G tone. When we try to send a fax using WInfax to this business – there is an error message – “No Answer” – in other words WinFax gave up after a fixed number of rings (probably less than 8). Is there a way to increase the number of time (rings) that Winfax will wait prior to returning with a “NO Answer” message?
Thank you!!

Keymasteryes, this can be changed by modifying the S7 register for the modem.
In the initialization string for the fax modem within the modem setup in WinFax, check for the entry that has S7= usually, this is set to the default value of S7=55 change this to read S7=90 for example, it might now display as AT&F&C1&D2S7=55 change it to AT&F&C1&D2S7=90
the number after the S7= indicates the time in seconds before the modem will hang up the call if there is “no answer”. So if 90 seconds isn’t enough, you can change it to a higher value.
