When I send from WinFax about 20% of my faxes fail with the message “No Carrier”. I have troubleshooted the 7 itmes found on Symantecs website and still have the problem. I have tried a different modem card, different telephone line and lowered the transmission speed. I hook up a regular fax machine using the same telephone cable and most of the failed faxes send fine. Any ideas?

HSP56 Micromodem. I tried a different modem card, a PCTEL Platinum, and had the same issue.

both these modems are software based modems, and would likely give you the same results. If possible , you can test sending the fax using the built in Microsoft Fax using the same modem. If the fax sends properly, it may be a problem with the settings for WinFax, or that WinFax doesn’t like your modem.
