    Hi All,

I have a Winfax Pro 10.03 installation that all of a sudden last week stopped allowing the user to print to the Winfax printer – it spools, dissapears from the spool, Winfax opens and only presents the cover page. Any Ideas ? (further info below) – I’m at the stage of suggesting GFI Faxmaker as Winfax always seems to be a nightmare when we need to look at it.

    Work Done:
    Complete uninstall / reinstall
Same again following manual uninstall guide
Complete manuall removal of printers, printer drivers and folders.

    User still cannot print.

Other users can print fine on their local client installations.

This installation is the Winfax host and the other (4 installs) are clients — up until the reinstall / 10.04 patch everything was working but the local system could not print. After the 10.04 patch nothing works (although I believe a reinstall without this would resolve that problem)

Note: The CD is Winfax Pro 10.03 – after installation and attempted to patch to 10.04 it drops it down to Winfax Basic (!?) is this known behaviour?]

    Any help is appreciated!

If your getting a Basic Edition screen after upgrading to 10.04, then you’ve got a problem where the patch is not updating all the files either due to failure updating some of the files OR you’ve updated the wrong version of WinFax PRO, such as a non-English or International English version of WinFax PRO.

If you’re not already using 10.04, I don’t recommend it.

After upgrading to 10.04, these files should be present:

    01/06/2005 06:13 PM 750 about.cfg
    01/25/2005 01:52 PM 102,912 ISUtil.dll
    01/25/2005 01:54 PM 235,008 UNINSTAL.DLL
    01/25/2005 01:55 PM 565,760 WFXCTL32.EXE
    01/25/2005 01:29 PM 558,080 wfxctl32_2k.exe (For Windows 2000, and renamed to WFXCTL32.EXE)
    01/25/2005 01:53 PM 404,992 WFXIFWPP.DLL
    01/25/2005 01:47 PM 1,169,408 WFXRES32.DLL
    01/25/2005 01:53 PM 59,904 WPPHOST.WPI

Also, I recommend installing WinFax while logged in as an Administrator, or an account with Administrator privledges.

If you still have problems I’d suggest taking a look at WinFax Tools
http://www.getfaxing.com/winfaxtools.htm , there is a fix available for the printer driver in the full version of this software.
