I’m a new participant. I installed Win Fax 10.02 on my XP machine. I’m the only user. I keep getting these error messages that say “You are not authorized to modify shared WinFax PRO settings, etc.” Symantec’s website support is the pits. I have uninstalled/reinstalled 3 times now. Same result. What’s going on?

This is the solution for this problem.

Modify permissions for the registry key and reinstall WinFax PRO 10

    1. Click Start, and click Run. The Run dialog box appears.
    2. Type regedt32 in the Run field, and click OK. The Registry Editor window appears.
    3. Select the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareDelrina

    4. Do one of the following:
Windows 2000. Click Security and click Permissions. The Permissions for Delrina dialog box appears.
Windows XP. Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareDelrina and then click Permissions.
    5. Select Administrators and enable the Allow box next to Read and Full Control.
    6. Repeat the process for the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareDelrina

    7. Exit the Registry Editor and restart Windows.
    8. Reinstall WinFax PRO 10.

Thank you for your response. I am assuming somewhere in your instructions I should uninstall WinFax 10.2?

you can, but not always required. i would recommend it if you don’t care of the existing data.
