??? We are 1st time winfax users. According to the instructions we’ve found, winfax uses “Styles” to determine the phone number on the mail merge document. We’ve set up the WfxFaxNum style, but a winfax print doesn’t seem to select the fax number, and when we try a winfax mailmerge, we get a run time error.

    Any suggestions?

which fax mail merge macro are you using? there are different instructions depending on the macro you are using. If you are using the GetFaxing.com macro it will not use styles for the Fax Merge, however, it does use styles if you are sending a single fax.

We are testing with the macro for MS Word 2002 that comes with WinFax.
We are running MS Word 2002, and WinFax 10.03. I do not think that the macro loaded properly, since I had to manually add the styles.
We are actually going to be sending the mail merge documents to WinFax from our own macro that processes a file from the mainframe with purchase order documents that have to be routed either to the printer or to the fax. The fax software we are currently using, Hydrafax, is no longer supported, so we are replacing it.
    Thanks,
    Valerie

Older versions of the macro that is included with WinFax supported styles for Mail Merge, but the version for Word 2002 does not support styles at all.

Check out the following document provided by Symantec for information on how to configure and prepare a Fax Merge.
These steps do not require styles.

The GetFaxing.com Fax Merge macro is similar, however, there are several new features available that are not present in Symantec’s macro. For details see http://www.getfaxing.com/products.htm
