The host should be determining the proper rules, not the client. You don’t want it performing rules on a number twice. If you’ve set the client to use Fax Sharing, you should have No Dialing Rules available, unless, you’ve also configured a Fax modem on the client in addition to Fax Sharing.
I don’t know if this is exactly what you are experiencing, but this document seems to describe the problem.
February 11, 2009 at 9:45 pm #5838durbieMemberI have finally Formatted and reloaded XP Pro SP3. Loaded WINFAX 10.03. I am using the machine as a standalone. Set the dialing up as windows environment. I now have the problem that all numbers from the 3rd party software enter WINFAX as +1. Sound familiar? I am beginning to think it is a macro word issue. I am traveling for the rest of the week and will be discussing with inidividuals about a replacement for WINFAX.
Thanks for your assistance but I have three Vista machines out of twent-five and Vista will be the next problem.
ThanksFebruary 12, 2009 at 5:15 am #5839AdministratorKeymaster+1 may show up in the status window, but the actual dialing sequence should be correct based on the dialing rules set in Windows.
As for Word macro issue, what macro, and how exactly are you faxing the document from Word to WinFax?
Also, WinFax is not compatible with Vista – no solution there other than obtaining another fax software.
February 16, 2009 at 3:54 pm #5840durbieMemberI unserstand that WINFAX and Vista are not compatible and am not using Vista for faxing.
I am running a HeavyBid program that opens word 2003 inserts a fax into it and sends it to Winfax. When Winfax gets the file in the outbox it tries to send the fax image that it has recieved from HeavyBid. However, there is a +1 in front of the area code and number. If I tune up the voulme there is a voice telling me that the number cannot be dialed. If I “Modify Delivery” and only delete the + sign and click “Send Now” the fax goes with no problem.
My setup is now:
Windows XP Pro
MS Office Pro SP3
WINFAX 10.04Thanks

February 16, 2009 at 10:04 pm #5841AdministratorKeymasterI have come across some fax modems that don’t like the “+” , the problem here is that if your using a program such as HeavyBid, the + gets added automatically due to the method the fax number is transmitted to WinFax. Are you still using Windows dialing method? and what type (manufacturer) of fax modem?
February 18, 2009 at 3:15 pm #5842durbieMemberI have tried windows dialing method and Winfax dialing with same results. I have determined that the +1 is a country code and being ignore by the modem. I need to get another 1 in front of the area code for this to function properly.
Thanks,February 18, 2009 at 7:57 pm #5843AdministratorKeymasteryes the 1 is a country code for USA and Canada. Its dropped for local calls, and dialed for long distance calls. This format is called canonical dialing which for US/Canada would look like +1 (999) 999-9999
I suggest you contact Heavybid and find out how they are sending their fax numbers to WinFax. Obviously, something is wrong with the setup on how these numbers are being transferred to WinFax.
