I have been on holiday for 5 weeks. Just started up Winfax. Everything went well but it will not send. The modem test says it is active and OK. When I hit send it tries to send, but no line status dialogue box appears so I cannot tell why it does not connect to the fax line through the modem.

Are there any other tests I can do? Tue D-Link DFM 562E External modem is fitted to TAPI and is ticked. It tries to connect to the line and then stops. How do I locate the Line Status Dialogue box?

Any other ideas on why it tries to connect and then stops.

    Problem is partially solved.
I managed to rebuild the logs – but they just sit in the Outbox, and nothing is happening. 62 faxes to send.

Apologies but I am finding it hard to navigate into the forums. This is since I subscribed to the Premium Membership. Is there any Document that gives guidance.

I now need to find the instructions that will start sending automatically from the Outbox – I know they are there in the forums, somewhere.

    Thanks for the latest information.
My Son managed to remove WinFax 10.02 by working in DOS (I think). Installation then went well, and after much trial and error we got the link between WinFax and my Database in MS Access.
The OutlookWinFax.exe download has been run & the program was working. Sent out over 400 faxes in less than 18 hours.
A couple of problems still appear. (1) WinFax Fax Logs appeared in Outlook 2003, under Archive files. I followed your instructions and through Control Panel>Data they have been removed. (2) On booting the Computer before Windows is installed, WinFax comes up with the following error message. WinFax PRO Setup.
Setup was unable to stop the spooler. Retry to have Setup attempt to stop the spooler again, or manually stop the spooler and click cancel, go to the Control Panel and Select Services.
Any ideas on what this means and how to overcome it. When I hit RETRY is goes through the SetUp routine and completes and finishes it. Then Windows loads normally. Next time I boot the computer, presto the same message. 🙁

    Thanks for the information.
I can report that by doing a re-installation from the Disk that the program has installed correctly, and so far there is no problem with Outlook 2003.

I will get my son to Download the fix for the outlook.exe problem, to stop this happening again. He will again set up the link between WinFax and my Database in MS Access 2003. As it is an ODBC Database, we will set up the DSN for an ODBC Driver and away we go. Thanks again for the help available on this site. 😀

In which case, as WinFax 10.02 does everything I require to work effectively in my environment, I see no need to change to 10.03.

Thanks for the help and advice. I plan to become a Premium Member, just in case.

I have tried both Snappy Fax and FaxTalk Fax. Neither appear to easily access my present Database. WinFax PRO 10.02 is linked to the Database in MS Access, and when I make a change (up to 10 changes per day) Winfax immediately has the updated version. I can transfer my Database to MS Excel and maintain it in a CSV form. However Snappy Fax appears to only update the whole Database which takes 30 minutes or more (there are 13,000 entries in the Database). I cannot see if FaxTalk Fax is any different.
It seems that WinFax is still so much more user friendly, and without the support of this Forum I could not continue to use it. Thanks to everyone for the responses and to the Moderator who must know WinFax through and through. Last question, is there any advantage in moving from 10.02 to 10.04?

I have just had this problem. It appeared after doing a complete Uninstall ‘ Reinstall of Winfax PRO 10.02, using the Disk. The test run after installation worked 100%. The next day, I was faced with an error message, asking me to close the COM1 port. This was an impossible task. Eventually I removed the D-Link DFM-562E External Fax Modem and did a complete Reinstallation including Drivers from the Disk.

Presto – it worked 100% – and WinFax 10.02 has performed without a fault all this week, 🙂

Living in Melbourne (Aust) I wonder what will happen next time my using WinFax has a problem. My business is built out of sending out faxes. My I T Adviser tells me that as more changes come with Windows so it is more likely that problems will arise with WinFax. Such a pity, it is such a great program.
I use 10.02 with Windows XP Home and Office PRO 2003.
I have looked a the websites of Snappy Fax and FaxTalk Fax but cannot find if I can import an address list from MS Access and my ‘flyer’ that is faxed out, which is in a PDF. Please, is anyone able to answer this.
Alternatively now that Symantec have dropped WinFax PRO, could it be taken up by another Organisation and supported. Please this is no criticism of this Forum – it has been very helpful, but with a small home based business relying on WinFax PRO 10.02 I have to be forward looking.

I apologise for not being computer literate.

What is meant by ‘a rebuild’.

Any chance of line by line instruction on how to do this, please?
