When starting message manager after an install I get the error message “this action cannot be completed because the other program is busy” Can’t find reference to this in any of the forums. Have WinFax Pro 10.0, just downloaded the upgrade to 10.1. Have Windows XP Home Edition and Outlook 2002. Someone help please!!!

    1. Reboot, and close WinFax PRO and Controller if active.

    2. Exit all open programs.

    3. Click Start , Run and type %windir% and click OK

    4. The Windows folder should appear. If files are hidden, select the option to view files in this folder.

    5. Locate and select the “Twain” folder, click Edit, and click Rename. (if Twain does not exist, go to the next step and search for “Twain_32” )
Rename the folder to OldTwain and click OK. The folder is renamed.

    6. Select the Twain_32 folder. Click Edit, and click Rename.
Rename the folder to OldTwain_32 and press Enter. The folder is renamed.

    7. Close all open windows and restart the system, then start WinFax.

If the error message no longer appears, then the problem is related to your TWAIN_32 scanner drivers conflicting with WinFax. Please note that renaming these folders will cause your scanner (if installed) to be disabled.

While these steps do not resolve the problem, it will determine if the problem is related to scanner drivers that may be attempting to initialize during the startup of WinFax PRO. Any corrupt drivers could cause this message “Program is busy…” when WinFax starts. This is NOT a WinFax error message, it is a Windows error message.

Thank you thank you thank you. Can’t say it enough. I spent so much time trying to figure this out until you posted the answer.

You’re welcome. So was it a problem with a scanner?
