1. set your computer to receive faxes with the proper software (eg. winfax http://www.getfaxing.com/winfax) and hardware (eg. a fax modem) make sure it is set to receive faxes (auto-receive on or use manual receive)
2. make sure the fax modem is plugged in to a working (analog only) telephone jack with a dedicated telephone number (no extensions/digital lines)
3. send a fax from any fax machine to your computer fax by dialing the telephone number , following the normal sending procedures of your fax machine. (The fax machine and PC fax should be connected on different telephone lines or this may not work)
