MemberHi,
I work for a directory company and we send over 2000 faxes a day. We currently have a problem and want the faxes to send faster, is there an alternative solution to using more than 2 modems? if not, how can winfax be hacked to use three or more modems for sending?
I read about this when I searched the forums but I didn’t understand using multiple hosts?
Using winfax 10 and windows xp.
thanks.

Keymasterwinfax can only use 2 modems on a single client or host machine. You can have >multiple< hosts, each with 2 modems. For example, 5 PC's hooked up to 2 modems each = 10 modems sending. Then you have clients that send faxes to any single host. The problem is that these "hosts' don't pool faxes, so if one host is idle, and another has 100 faxes to send, the idle PC remains idle unless you send faxes specifically to it. For the volume you are doing, I’d recommend looking at a fax server software, they can support multiple modems that can use WinFax as a client, such as http://www.faxback.com or http://www.rightfax.com
or maybe look at an internet fax service.March 15, 2007 at 10:05 pm #7999pillfreak
MemberThankyou for your help, as it is we are using 11 different PC’s (hosts), each with two modems. Internet faxing services are too expensive for Australia (no free local calls) and they use the same method of faxing as we do anyway.
Do you know if there is a way to make the faxes send faster? maybe lowering the quality or something like that?

Keymasteryes lowering the quality to standard resolution (200×100) will allow faxes to send faster.
