We have a computer running Windows XP Pro SP2 with WinFax Pro 10.0 and a USRobotics V.92 Fax Win Int modem. Up until today it received faxes perfectly. Today it started faling to properly receive faxes. Some times they will show as failed, but other times they will show they came in fine but when you look at them the pages received start off at about 1/4 of the page and progressivly show more as the page count increases. (i.e. the first page will only be 1/4, the second about 1/2, the third about 2/3, and the fourth will be a full page) There have been no updates to this computer since yesterday when it worked perfectly. There are no error messages shown. Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this?
March 19, 2008 at 6:38 pm #8164AdministratorKeymasterits difficult to determine what may have caused this,
what are the current settings for the modem in WinFax?
what model of US Robotics modem are you using?
Do you have the latest drivers for that model of modem for Windows XP SP2 installed?March 25, 2008 at 8:17 pm #8165chrlshrdyMemberThe modem is a USR 5699B. It does have the latest drivers on USR’s website with a date of 11/18/2005. The settings for it in WinFax are set to a TAPI device with 2400 for the speed.
March 25, 2008 at 8:32 pm #8166chrlshrdyMemberCorrection, the speed is set as 19200
March 26, 2008 at 6:15 pm #8167AdministratorKeymasterwhat is the class setting, the fax initialization, the flow control settings?
also what is the error message displayed in the logs for the faxes that are partially received?does this only occur on multipage faxes? do one page faxes come in normally?
April 1, 2008 at 6:15 pm #8168chrlshrdyMemberWell, it turns out it wasn’t a software or modem issue at all. There was a bad cable pair that the phone company replaced.
April 2, 2008 at 9:34 pm #8169AdministratorKeymastergood to hear you’ve resolved this
