I am using a Conexant SmartHSFi V92 56K with Winfax Pro 10.00 on Windows XP Pro. I have a problem receiving some fax’s. The modem answers and and I start receiving and then the fax will freeze and I get a the following error.

    11:41:21 TAPI connection failed

Can you advise if there are some settings I can try or what the problem may be?

    Thanks

Make sure you have the latest Windows XP drivers for that specific fax modem (you’d have to find out from the manufacturers Web site)

if the modem is on a com port such as Com4 or higher, you might want to configure it so it is the next available com port. For internal modems, usually this is Com3. (Com1 and Com2 are usually reserved for physical 9 pin communications ports in most computers used today)

You might want to post more info on the modem and setup, since troubleshooting TAPI errors is not simple there are many scenarios that can cause these errors .
