Winfax crashed!
Controller: WFCTL32.exe Program error
instruction: 0x7c911689 to memory: 0x00000000, read failed
Do you now what can be the cause of this?
September 9, 2009 at 6:00 pm #8683AdministratorKeymasterOur long distance carrier is having some problems, as we had some problems sending faxes with other destinations within the past few days. So I don’t think it is a problem on your side. We’re in the process of finding another backup carrier.
September 9, 2009 at 7:09 pm #8684mderooMemberAnd about the crash?

You’ll have to provide more details on where and when this crash is occuring. Is this the Host or client?
September 9, 2009 at 8:24 pm #8686mderooMemberThe host was receiving a fax
September 10, 2009 at 4:07 pm #8687AdministratorKeymasterThe Host on the VMWare running under Windows 2K8?
If this is occuring after every receive, you can try in WinFax Tools , Logs & Phonebooks.
Rebuild Logs & Phonebooks. Select for file to rebuild “status.wfb” and OK.
The VMWare Virutual Windows XP under Windows 2K8 isn’t supported, and you’re the first that I am aware of using this. I’m not sure if this is a related error.September 11, 2009 at 8:34 am #8688mderooMemberYes, the host is running in a virtual machine.
It happend only one time, the crash!
I only have 1 server that’s always on!
It to expansive to have ans second computer online 24 hours a day, electricity and XP license and the hardware!
I will soon have an HP 6500 All in one inktjet printer, wich can also fax. Only not sure if I can send to it from a pc (fax)!?
September 11, 2009 at 4:06 pm #8689AdministratorKeymasterHP 6500 would include its own software, if it does support sending and receiving from/to a PC.
You cannot configure this fax machine for use with WinFax.September 12, 2009 at 10:35 pm #8690mderooMemberBut what is the problem of running Winfax inside a Virtual Machine (XP).
Winfax crashed again after receiving a fax, but I can’t reproduce the steps.
I also have an extra harddisk with only Windows XP Home, in the Win2K8 machine.
I will try if I can find a way to reproduce it to see if it caused by running inside a Virtual Machine.
September 15, 2009 at 7:18 pm #8691AdministratorKeymasterwhen it comes to virtual machine, we do not know what could be the problem. if it always occurs when receiving, then it is a problem. Serial modem (external) ? or software based modem?
September 15, 2009 at 7:40 pm #8692mderooMemberIt’s an serial (analog) modem attached to COM1, serial port is added to the virtual machine.
And it is not happening al the time!
It happened twice, for now.
As I said earlier there is an extra hd with only Windows XP Home, for testing purposes.

Ok, its preferred to have a Windows XP (or compatible OS) machine as the Host. However I realize why you want to use the Virtual PC instead, hopefully those are just random errors that are not frequent. I don’t know how VM handles hardware, like modems.
