Imported WinFax PRO fax documents filename format

FaxTalk can import existing WinFax logs and convert the original FXR, FXD and FXM WinFax PRO files into native FaxTalk (.fax) format. The WinFax logs are imported into the File Cabinet folder of FaxTalk.  This File Cabinet folder works similiar to the Attachments folder in WinFax PRO. After import, you have access to your previous WinFax PRO faxes.

When importing a WinFax PRO fax, a FaxTalk fax document is created using a filename that is based on some of the original information available from the WinFax PRO log. FaxTalk will store a multiple page WinFax PRO fax into a single file. The following format is used when generating a filename for an imported WinFax PRO fax:

YYYYMMDDHHMM – CIDNAME – CIDNUMBER – CSID – ORIGINALWINFAXFILENAME.fax

An example of an imported fax file would look like:

201109192149 – Marty Funkhouser – 18085551212 MARTYS FAX 0987600.fax

The information used in the filename is based on the following:

YYYYMMDDHHMM – This is the year, month, day, hour and minute information for the original WinFax
PRO transaction.

CIDNAME – This is the Caller ID Name stored in the WinFax PRO log for the original WinFax PRO
transaction (if available). If importing a Send Log, this information will contain the Fax Recipients Name.

CIDNUMBER – This is the Caller ID Number stored in the WinFax PRO log for the original WinFax PRO
transaction (if available). If importing a Send Log, this information will contain the Recipients Fax Number.

CSID – This is the fax sender’s CSID information stored in the WinFax PRO log for the original WinFax PRO
transaction (if available). This information is usually a fax number, or a name.

ORIGINALWINFAXFILENAME – This is the original WinFax PRO filename used for the fax document. This can be used to reference the filename stored in WinFax PRO’s data folder.

LIMITATIONS

Because the import process creates a new FaxTalk formatted fax file from the existing WinFax PRO fax document the Date field in the File Cabinet reflects the file’s creation date of the imported file and not the actual date of the WinFax PRO. The original WinFax date is retained and is stored in the YYYYMMDDHHMM portion of the filename of the imported fax.

The Company Name, Billing Code, Subject, Duration, Number of Pages, Completion Status Code etc. are not imported from the original WinFax PRO logs. Voice messages (from TalkWorks PRO) and e-mail message entries in the logs are not imported.
