Missing FaxTalk printer icon in Windows

If the FaxTalk printer driver is working and appears in all your applications via the print option, but does not appear as a visible printer icon in the Control Panel/Devices and Printers then verify that the following Windows services are set to a manual startup type. If any of these services are set to disabled, the FaxTalk printer icon may not appear in the devices and printers:

Device Setup Manager (service name="DsmSvc")
Device Install Services (service name="DeviceInstall")

These services should both be set to a startup type: “Manual“.

You may need to reboot your machine for the FaxTalk printer icon to appear.

Repair the FaxTalk installation.

If the FaxTalk printer driver does not install or function properly following any of the solutions above, try using the Modify option from the Add/Remove Programs. Click your FaxTalk product in the Add/Remove Programs/Apps option. Do not click Remove. Click Modify, then click the Repair option on the next window.

IMPORTANT If you uninstall and reinstall, it is recommended you use the FaxTalk Backup Tool prior to the uninstall and backup your FaxTalk data to a FaxTalk Archive backup file (FTA). This is a precaution to any possible data loss. The reinstall will require you enter your original SERIAL NUMBER for the product you are installing and you will require your setup installation file.
