The recommended and 1st suggestion would be to run a rebuild on the default send/receive log and hope that allows you to delete them.

If you’ve done this and they still don’t delete, the next set of steps would require you to reset your default send/receive logs (which is just deleting your entire default database log files so WinFax recreates new, empty logs). If you want to do that, you have to “move” any faxes you want to keep to another message store or delete them in WinFax. Then , you have to delete a set of database files in the WinFaxData folder. This is not an easy process especially if you have a lot of faxes in the default logs (something you should avoid). You also have to make sure you have applied the “Move/Copy” patch from WinFax Tools or you’ll likely run into the WinFax bug when attempting to moving a log entry to a different message store folder (this serious bug can cause you to lose fax images).

In summary , If you have a lot of faxes in your default send / receive logs it will be a lot of work just to remove a dozen stuck entries from your wastebasket.

Just a note that groups (if you used them in WinFax PRO) are not carried over to FaxTalk. So when you import back into WinFax PRO, the groups are lost. You would have to recreate your phonebook groups if that applies to you.

The importing of a WinFax PRO phonebook into FaxTalk shouldn’t have affected any of your WinFax PRO data.

You could “export” your FaxTalk contacts into a text file by selecting the contacts folder in FaxTalk then clicking File, Export. Select “Text File (Comma Separated Values)” click Export. Then enter a filename (example myfaxphonebook.csv )

To export contacts from a FaxTalk phonebook:

    1. Open the FaxTalk application.
    2. On the View menu, click Folder List.
    3. Click the phonebook that contains the contact you want to export (such as the Contacts folder).
    4. Select the contacts you want to export. (Click Edit, Select All to select all contacts)
    5. On the File menu, click Export.
    6. Select the type of file to export from the list. (Text file – Comma Separated Values) click Export
    7. Enter a filename to save the file (make sure you know where it is saved), enable the option include field names when exporting.
    8. Click Next.

The next step would require you to “import” the data within WinFax PRO.
here are the steps on the WinFax PRO side,

WinFax PRO not recommended for Windows 7, but you can download just the viewer install to use it as a Viewer to view and print faxes

I don’t recall ever seeing this video. WinFax LITE/WinComm LITE was bundled with many different types of fax modems, so it is possible that this was a marketing video to promote upgrades to the ComSuite 95 package. It most likely would have been included on a CD ROM modem installation disc, probably late 1995 or early 1996. Possible modem manufacturers could be Hayes, Supra, Practical Peripherals, Creative Labs and maybe U.S. Robotics.

what anti-virus are you using? its possible that it is anti-virus or firewall doing some scanning, or another application that is active at the time of the send is causing the delay. The return ID isn’t being received in time to acknowledge the successful send, so WinFax reports the message. I don’t recommend disabling anti-virus or firewall, but you could try adding the WinFax PRO files “wfxctl32.exe” and “faxmng32.exe” to your exception list in your Anti-Virus, if that is available to you.

are you referring to the animation of the fax machine that shows the fax page? That is an .AVI video that is displayed within the status window. If it does not appear it may be related to a conflict with your video drivers. If you are concerned of this, you can try adjusting the video settings: resolution, or color depth (16 bit vs. 32 bit). Not having that animation appear should not cause problems in WinFax, it is just for visual presentation.

Version 10.02 will not work with SDK and printing attachments when using Windows XP due to a bug in the SDK code. This was fixed in version 10.03 . If you installed 10.0 (or an earlier version of WinFax) it should have worked. So it is possible there is another problem and it could be related to timing of the SDK code. Also, if you installed 10.04 overtop 10.02, this would cause other problems and you’ll need to uninstall and reinstall a proper version.

I’d suggest trying version 10.03 and remove the older version first. If you have 10.02, you can create a 10.03 image installer. you have to uninstall then reinstall 10.03 (or use the WinFax Clean Tool to remove Winfax first)
    http://www.getfaxing.com/downloads/patches/index.php?file=Patch1002-1003.exe

You should also try attaching another document (txt or doc for example) and confirm that the WinFax printer drivers are installed.
If you are using Windows XP 64 bit edition it will not work (the drivers are not 64 bit compatible)
If the problem only occurs when using your custom code then it may require some code changes.
Do you have access to the VFP code that uses the WinFax SDK? and can you modify it if required?

The default message store is corrupt. This will prevent you from sending faxes.

You could force WinFax to replace these files with a new, empty, new message store. This can be done by moving the “STATUS” files out of the Data folder while WinFax is NOT active. This shouldn’t be done unless these message store folders are empty or you delete the faxes in these folders first. You will lose all your faxes if you do this.

Under “Messages” you should have “Outbox”, “Receive Log”, “Send Log” and “Wastebasket”. Do you have any faxes and/sub folders created within these folders?

Try the following in WinFax Tools:

    Click Logs & Phonebooks button.
    Click Rebuild Logs & Phonebooks
Click Yes to prompt to proceed.
Select the “status.wfb” file from the file list, click OK.

This should rebuild your default send/receive log.

    (Optional)
To add the 2nd fax printer in WinFax :
Click on Install & Setup Tools button
Click on Install Printer Driver button.
there are no messages if the install is completed successfully (may take up to 1 minute)
if there is a message, the install was unsuccessful.

To confirm if the install was successful, in WinFax Tools:
    Click “Show Printers” button.
You should see at least two WinFax PRO printers. “WinFax” and “WinFax (Photo Quality)”

To test sending and receiving fax…
Try sending a fax to 1-888-473-2963. After the fax is successfully sent, the service will send you a return fax automatically within 5 minutes to test receive (providing your caller id is accurate for your fax #)

the 13th file was likely a .dmp file, which is just a file that contains the results of a rebuild/optimize for the specific database.
as for problems sending and receiving faxes, I suggest posting a message in the “Send and Receive” forum – also include if the fax appears in your “Outbox’ folder and the type of fax modem you are using.

I found that two files are corrupt/mismatched, MY-PH-BK.WFD and MY-PH-BK2.WFX. The remaining files are the default sizes for a normal, empty phonebook.

The MY-PH-BK.WFD file holds all the phone book entries. If it is critical that you need to manually recover a specific name and fax number, you could use a Hex/Text Editor and review some of the data from the MY-PH-BK.WFD file directly.

The only thing you can do is to fix this error from appearing in WinFax is to delete all 12 of the “MY-PH-PB” files from your “C:Program FilesWinFaxData” folder. WinFax will automatically determine these files are missing, and create a new set of “default” MY-PH-PB” phone book files. Before you delete or remove them from the folder. make sure the WinFax PRO controller, WinFax Message Manager and all other programs are shut down/closed. You can’t delete these files (or at least all of them ) if WinFax is still active. !! NOTE You have to delete all 12 of the MY-PH-BK files while WinFax is not active !!

After you do this, restart WinFax PRO. The “My Phonebook” folder should now now have 1 default contact name with a “Wastebasket” folder. The error message should no longer appear when starting WinFax PRO.
