also, if you get the same error(s), please list the exact error message… it should indicate a module where this general protection fault error occurs
JohnDParticipanttry this…
after you install and get the error message, reboot and run the file UPDREG.BAT in your WinFax directory.
Then run the WTNSETUP.EXE file in the WinFax directory and see if the same error occurs.
You can also try running SETUPDCC.EXE and manually set options here (modem, dialing settings etc.)

February 12, 2003 at 5:45 am in reply to: Features suddenly unavailable (with no signs) – Your PRO version just turned into a Basic Edition. #6657JohnDParticipantHi Daniel,
that link is no longer available. but here is a link that is working that should solve your problemFebruary 12, 2003 at 5:43 am in reply to: Winfax Pro always receiving blank pages – Blank pages received using Winfax pro 10 #6247JohnDParticipanttry other machines first to see if it is a problem with a specific type of machine. WinFax can have difficulties with specific modems and receiving from some types of fax machines.
if you still have problems, post a message here with additional details.
JohnDParticipantyou can, but not always required. i would recommend it if you don’t care of the existing data.
February 12, 2003 at 5:40 am in reply to: Unable to negotiate connection or train on last at – Unable to negotiate connection or train #6291JohnDParticipantthis is usually a configuration problem with winfax. WinFax is very picky on the initialization string setup and class of the modem. What type of modem is installed on this PC? and what are the settings in WinFax (Program Setup, Modem/Communication devices)?
JohnDParticipanthave you removed the registry key entries ?
what type of modem are you using? does this happen before WinFax tries to detect the modem?
what version of WinFax?February 12, 2003 at 5:36 am in reply to: area code and 1 – can’t fax without entering 1 b4 area cod #6480JohnDParticipantgo to the WinFax PRO Program setup, and click the Dialing and Location option.
Now click on the ADVANCED button near the bottom of the dialog box. Click on “WinFax PRO dialing” option, then click OK. (If its already on WinFax, then just click OK)
Now click on the LOCATION “tab” at the top of the dialog box. Make sure everything is correct here, including your local area code (3 digit number) and you’ve also entered your phone number (or fax number). Long distance access should be “1” and International Access should be “011”, Country should be United States (1) (or Canada 1 )
Click on AREA CODE RULE to change specific area code rule dialing options..Hope that helps!
February 8, 2003 at 6:10 am in reply to: Using SendFax object and AreaCode – Fighting the AreaCode and CountryCode #4239JohnDParticipantJust want to add, are you setting country code + area code + local number ??? Try that
JohnDParticipantYou might want to try setting this modem to Class 1 or Class 2 (if it is already set to class 1)
you can do this in the WinFax PRO modem setupEdited By JohnD on Feb. 07 2003 at 21:58

January 11, 2003 at 2:42 am in reply to: Using SendFax object and AreaCode – Fighting the AreaCode and CountryCode #4238JohnDParticipantOne thing i have noticed with host sending is that the number that appears in the “sending” window isn’t usually what is dialed. Check if it actually is sending the area code, country code etc. when dialing your faxes. This may just be appearing in the send window of the host only.
